The Old West Comes Alive! Join us for a journey back in time as we explore the natural beauty and historic architecture of the great state of Montana. Renowned for its national and state parks, Montana is a nature-lover’s paradise, from its grassy meadows to its towering cliffs and crystal-clear lakes. But it’s also a haven for history buffs. Explore historic mining towns of a bygone age, follow in the tracks of great explorers, and sample the arts and culture of Native Americans who first settled this majestic land. From stately mansions to wide-open spaces, Montana offers something for everyone!

Big-Town Adventure, Small-Town Charm Our adventure begins in the bustling metropolis of Spokane, Washington. The second largest city in the state, Spokane offers attractions you expect in a major city, but with the friendly ambiance of a small frontier town. During your first night of the tour, feel free to explore Spokane’s Riverfront Park, nearly 100 acres of lush, green meadows featuring a scenic skyride, an IMAX theater and a historic carousel from 1909.

Dramatic Views Will Take Your Breath Away! More than 20,000 years ago, the territory we know as Montana was covered in sheets of glacial ice. You’ll see the dramatic results of that pre-historic ice age in the rugged mountain ranges, steep ravines and deep lakes that dominate the beautiful countryside of Glacier National Park.

Set in the rugged northern Rockies, Glacier National Park offers 1,000,000 acres of lush forests, alpine meadows and glittering lakes. A highlight of our visit will be a tour of the park’s famous Going-to-the-Sun Road, a 52-mile highway that crosses the Continental Divide and offers some of the area’s most memorable vistas. We’ll journey along this famed highway in one of the park’s vintage red buses. These antique, open-air sedans – called “Jammers” because the drivers had to “jam” the gears on rugged mountain highways – are the classic way to tour Glacier National Park.

You’ll also follow the track of the glaciers as you cruise on the crystal waters of Upper Waterton Lake. Set in Glacier-Waterton International Peace Park in Alberta, Canada, the lake offers scenic bays, looming mountains and serene wildlife. Awe-inspiring lake views will also be seen as we tour Flathead Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River. We’ll take to the water again during our Gates of the Mountain cruise. During this exciting tour, we follow in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark as we view sparkling waterways and spectacular cliffs that loom 1200 feet into the air on either side of the river. It’s a spectacular entry into the great Rocky Mountains!

Historic Landmarks and Cultural Gems While you’re enjoying “Big Skies” and magnificent landscapes, you’ll also want to keep an eye out for examples of Montana’s rich historical heritage. A land of prospectors and cowboys, Indians and copper barons, the American Northwest is home to remarkable historic landmarks and fascinating museums.

“Go West, young man,” was the cry, and towns like Wallace, Idaho, were part of the reason. Called “The Silver Capital of the World,” Wallace’s Shoshone County has produced more than 1.1 billion ounces of silver since 1884. We’ll visit this mining mecca, and also view the city’s downtown area, where every building is on the National Register of Historic Places.

We’ll re-live the Westward expansion as we tour the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, where we’ll learn what life was like during their grueling and awe-inspiring expedition. We’ll also pay tribute to the Indians who settled these lands with a visit to the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, and examine beautiful examples of Native American arts and culture at the Museum of the Plains Indian.

The American Northwest is also home to beautiful architecture, from the Conrad Mansion Museum, a beautifully preserved Norman-style structure, to the stately Prince of Wales Hotel, perched high on the bluffs overlooking Waterton Lake.

Let Your Frontier Journey Begin! Follow in the footsteps of famous explorers and prospecting miners! Feel the awe experienced by Lewis and Clark as they first gazed upon the glory of the Rocky Mountains! Join us for an inspiring experience and an exciting journey into Montana’s wonders!
