Red Rocks and Painted Canyons

Day 1: Arrive Phoenix, Arizona
A transfer is included from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North. Join fellow family travelers for a welcome reception and dinner.
Overnight: JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, Phoenix, AZ

Day 2: Red rocks and the amazing Grand Canyon
Visit the picturesque town of Sedona, sur­round­ed by towering red-rock formations with names like Coffeepot, Cathedral and Thunder Mountain. The scenery you’ll see around here is awe-inspiring, but nothing compares to the Grand Canyon, over one mile deep and 277 miles long. Geologists say that half of the Earth’s history is represented in the canyon’s rocks, terraced buttes and mesas. Spend the night near the rim of the canyon in Grand Canyon National Park; you will be able to enjoy nature’s masterpiece after the day’s crowds depart – sure to be a highlight of your family’s stay here. Dine at a choice of park restaurants this evening.

Day 3: Sunrise in the Grand Canyon, sunset at Lake Powell
Witnessing the sun rise – and set – in the Grand Canyon is one of those eye-opening experiences that will long be remembered and cherished by families of every age. Get up before the sun does and join us for a sunrise hike along the rim of the canyon; the locals are already awake so keep your eyes peeled for mule deer and squirrels in the cactus-studded landscape. Drive over to the East Rim as you depart the Grand Canyon this afternoon en route to Page, Arizona; we’ll stop along the way to show you different perspectives of the canyon from a variety of look-out points. Man-made Lake Powell in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is your destination for the  next two nights; your resort accommodations are the perfect gateway for a lot of lakeside diversions and watersport activities.

Day 4: Flightseeing over Rainbow Bridge & Lake Powell
Take off to see more of Mother Nature’s handiwork on an included flightseeing* excursion over the world’s largest natural bridge this morning; Rainbow Bridge spans 275 feet across Rainbow Creek in an almost perfect parabolic arch. This afternoon, you’ll have a choice of fun ways to explore Lake Powell or the local area. Hop aboard a boat for a cruise on Lake Powell, where you’ll discover spectacular views of Glen Canyon Dam, or you can take an off-road adventure by 4-wheel-drive vehicle* to one of the mysterious slot canyons of the Southwest. Often difficult to reach and explore on your own, these remote canyons are revered for their special beauty and change color as the sun moves overhead. You also have the option (at an additional cost of $199 per person) to go on a 4-hour flightseeing excursion to Monument Valley in the morning; ask at booking for details. Everyone ends this action-packed day back at the resort where dinner is included at your leisure.

Day 5: Rafting in Glen Canyon & a cowboy town
Float down the Colorado River aboard a pontoon raft as you drift through Glen Canyon* – quietly spotting the animals who live amid the colorful sandstone landscapes. Enjoy a change of pace and scenery this afternoon when you get a taste of western entertainment during lunch in Kanab, Utah – this town was a favorite location for famous cowboy movies like Stagecoach and My Friend Flicka, and the TV show, Gunsmoke. You’ll be staying in Bryce Canyon National Park tonight, where the scenery is painted in shades of pink and orange.

Day 6: Saddling up in Bryce Canyon National Park
Wake up to nature’s palette of brilliant colors in the canyon this morning; get a closer look at the whimsical hoodoos and intricately carved pillars of rock just a short walk from your lodge. Weather permitting, you can saddle up for an exciting trail ride* on a horse or a mule with a cowboy who points out hidden sights in this geologic fantasyland; Bryce Canyon is home to an ever-changing world of naturally carved amphitheaters, rocky spires, gravity-defying bridges, balanced rocks and sculpted limestone cliffs. Depart for Zion National Park this afternoon, the top of the Grand Staircase connecting to Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon.

Day 7: Hiking in Zion National Park
Spend the morning as you wish, reading the rocks in Zion’s cliff-and- canyon landscape or taking a hike through narrow pink-colored gorges and dramatic canyons – eight different rock strata, deposited over 200 million years, can be found here. See creamy-pink Navajo Sandstone cliffs that reach up to 2,200 feet in height! Travel to Las Vegas for an overnight stay and a farewell dinner.

Day 8: Journey Home from Las Vegas
Tour ends: Las Vegas. A transfer is included to Las Vegas Airport from Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas. Fly home anytime; checkout time is 12:00 noon. Allow a minimum of two hours for check-in.
